How to keep track of inventory levels across multiple locations?

Hi, I have two questions. What techniques do you use from inventory tracking across multiple locations? And I was also looking for some ideas online when I came across two different terms: s warehouse and inventory management. Are these the same? Thanks.

Shopify has a Locations feature that allows sellers to manage inventory across multiple locations. Using this feature, you can set several store locations and keep track of your stock for all sites. The number of locations you can select depends on your Shopify plan. For instance, Shopify Lite allows you to add 3 locations while Shopify plus allows 20 sites/locations.
Warehouse and inventory management are different. Inventory management deals with the stock of the product like availability, out-of-stock, etc. On the other end, Warehouse deals with employees, shipping, product stocks, etc.
