Are ALT tags beneficial for image SEO on Shopify?

Hey guys. I have recently found out that I can add ALT descriptions to my HTML code to describe image appearance and function. Because I am new to this, I wanted to know how ALT tags will help to rank my website once I start using them. Does anyone have any insight into this?

With this feature, search engines recognize your store's services and drive traffic accordingly. You must be vigilant and write descriptive yet concise ALT text for all your images to achieve high image searches. A high image search will compel Google to add your shop's URL below the picture.
